Let me guess. You don’t have time to work out. Do you have a full-time job and work overtime every day? You have two jobs and are having trouble getting the bills paid. You’re a full-time parent, spouse, and/or employee? You’re a single mom to some wonderful kid(s) and just can’t seem to catch a break? I get it! I’ve been there, who hasn’t? Life can get busy, tough, and maybe even a little rough. You may even lose yourself in the process but the bottom line is that if you aren’t taking care of yourself physically you won’t be able to take care of any of the people you love around you either.
Having an active lifestyle, and making time for yourself to get a good workout routine in, whether it be at the gym on your own, with a gym partner, or even a personal trainer can be one of the greatest investments you could make. Let me ask you this… If you needed a part for your car so that it could keep running and taking you everywhere you needed to be, would you invest the money and the time in getting that problem fixed or would you go and get a brand new car? I think most people would try and fix the problem. The same goes for our bodies. The only difference is that we only get ONE of those and what we decide to do with it and how we decide to maintain it will determine how good our engine is running.
Taking just 30 minutes to an hour out of your day to exercise can make the biggest difference in your life! If you can find just that little space in the day to get a good workout in, I guarantee you that your day will not only be better but you will FEEL better in return. If you need accountability there are several sources out there to help with that and the moment you stop using every excuse out there as to why you “don’t have the time to work out” that is when you will see a difference. Use your time wisely, don’t let the time do you, you DO THE TIME!
As humans we tend to take time to do the things we most enjoy and let’s face it for a lot of people, exercising just isn’t one of them. You have to dig down deep and figure out, what is it that is keeping you from adding an exercise regimen into your routine. Is it the money? Okay, take a look at those finances and see what you are spending your money on. Are you eating out every day? Do you drink on the weekends? Maybe you shop to feel better? Hey, I don’t blame you, I’ve done it too! but then I figured out another way to feel better and eventually look better.
Do you feel as though you don’t have the time? Okay, that’s understandable. As a single mother to a very active 3-year-old and having two jobs I completely understand! So, what I try to do is plan my workout around my day. Even if I just can’t make it to the gym that day, I will still get something done at home. There are great routines that you can do using nothing but body weight and/or some resistance bands and dumbbells. You can get a great workout in and get those serotonin and dopamine levels to rise and just overall feel better and more energized to conquer the rest of the day!
